Church Administrative Regulation of Illyrian Provinces 1809-1813

Abstract

The formation of Illyrian Provinces on the 14th of October 1809 caused changes on the church-administrative field as well. The Ljubljana »gubernium« demanded on the 23rd September 1811 from the bishop of Ljubljana Anton Kavčič to coordinate the borders of his diocese with new state borders. To the pressure of the government the Brixen, Salzburg and Graz bishops gave temporary jurisdiction to the Ljubljana bishop over those parishes of their dioceses which were politically included into Illyrian provinces with which the Holy Seat did not agree. With the decay of Illyrian provinces ali parishes were in 1814 given back to their basic dioceses.
