Abstract

The study documents the existence of the Yugoslav idea among the Slovenes in this period. The author presents in this article national, autonomous ideas held by Fran Podgornik, the editor of the »Slovan« and »Slovanski svet«. These ideas are a specific Yugoslav programme existing among the Slovenes. Both Slovene parties, the clerical and the liberal party, sympathized vvith the opposition in Croatia, which was ruled by the ban, and they saw in its activity the perspective for solutions of the Slovene problems. When it was established the Slovene clerical party attempted to form links as regards its programme and organization with Croatia, but it failed. The endeavours of the Slovene liberal party to create a link between the Slovene national politics and united oppositional parties in Croatia, ruled by the ban, also remained vvithout any important effect. However, the Slovene socialists were already in this period practically active in their orientation for the unification of power of ali Southern Slavic workers in the Austrian monarchy.
