Benevolent Society for Slovene University Students in Prague

Abstract

The article deals with the activity of Benevolent Society for Slovene University Students in Prague, having been active in the years 1901 - 1943. Due to political circumstances, the society, however, had to give up its activity in the years 1943 - 1950. It contributed a great deal to education of the Slovene intelligentsia and its becoming aware of its nationality. By collecting benevolent contributions to support Slovene university students in Prague, it created a link between the Slovene and Czech public and strengthened the basis for successful development of Slovene-Czech relations in the discussed period.
