Slavery - Forced Migration of Slavs to Italy

Abstract

The treatise gives a summary of white-slave trade from the former Yugoslav regions to Italy and the Mediterranean area in the 13th and 14th century. Many those slaves were by birth from patarenian Bosnia. By the intervention of merchants from Dalmatian towns, many Italian and Catalan merchants traded with them. Due to the fact that very many Slav slaves were sold to Italy, the author characterizes this trade as forced migration.
