"Gradišče" at Golek — Fortification Against the Turkish Assualts from the End of the 15th Century

Abstract

The author deseribes the exploring of the fortification built up against the Turkish assaults in Bela Krajina, which vvas particulary "of use" in the years of the worst Turkish invasions — 1471—1483. He emphasizes that the fortification is up till now unknown type of "tabor" (fortified strong-hold) in Slovenia, as it is the first one being situated in the plainland in the swamp. At the same time it is the first "tabor" with the exclusively wooden construction, having been explored by means of the archeological method.
