Abstract

In the year 1878 due to the strengthened Italian imperialistic pretensions to the Slovenian Coastland, Triest and Istria, to the allotment of the occupational mandate for Bosnia and Hercegovina to the Austria-Hungary, and to the oceupation of Bosnia and Hercegovina by the Austro-Hungarian army, the Slovenes manifested their willingness to resist the Italian iredentism. They organized the socalled »tabori« (open-air meetings) in Kojsko on March 31, in Kobarid on April 7 and in Dolina by Triest on October 27, 1878. Their decision to demand the foundation of the »Zedinjena Slovenija« (United Slovenia) and development of the Yugoslav solidarity was particularly manifested in the adress of the deputy of the Carniolian Regional Assembly to the Austrian Emperor, as well as at »tabor« in Dolina on October 5 and at the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Dr. Janez Bleiweis in Ljubljana, on November 19, 1878.
