Contribution to the History of Skočidol

Abstract

The treatise speaks about the Carinthian parish, which was incorporated into the Ljubljana's diocese from 1461 to 1787. Beside the expIanations of the ethymological origin of the name of the place Skočidol the treatise includes also some datas on the ethnology of the Slovenian Carinthia, as well as the proofs that the population of this part of Carinthia belonged to the Slovenian national group. In the period of reformation and anti-reformation the Protestantism prospered also in the parish Skočidol. The owners of the castle and the Vernberk-estate, the counts Khevenhüllers, vvere namely adherents of the new religion. Because of their political and economical strength they influenced the dependent farmers to enter the new religion.
