The Findings of the Early Slavic Settlements in Bosnia and Hercegovina
Abstract
The first early Slavic settlements dating from the 6th till the 9th century, found in Mušiči (Višegrad) and Jazbine (Bijeljina), give us for the first time a clear picture of the earliest Slavic culture in our country. The author describes also the main problems arising by the searching and excavations of those cave settlements. She underlines that the dates of those oldest settlements, as well as the other tracks of the Slavs in our country correspond with the data from the sources and the stand-points of the experts. The findings, mostly of cheramic origin, are analogical to the findings of the Slavic tribes in the Czecho-Slovakia, Rumenia, Ucraine, whereas the settlement in Jazbine corresponds to the types of the settlement of the South Slavs. Further the authoress deals with the types of the settlements and with the development from the hovels into the oval shaped halfcaves vvith one or two rows of stakes ali up to the settlements on the surface.
