Abstract

Psychology is a relatively young science in Slovenia in terms of its history in the rest of the world. The first psychological tracts to be written in Slovene was »Izkustveno dušeslovje« (1889) by Fran Gabršek. Until the end of the Second World War Slovene psychology was phylosophically oriented. Empirical psychology began only with the establishment of the department of psychology at the University of Ljubljana in 1950. The first head of the department was Mihajlo Rostohar, pioneer of Slovene empirical psychology.
