In his contribution based on the studies of the archive collection of the princes Batthyany being kept in the Budapest Record Office, the author calls attention to the correspondence material referring to the Prekmurje in the 17th century. In numerous preserved letters the runners of the Batthyany feudal estate in the central part of Prekmurje as well as other correspondants describe the up till now insufficiently explored Turkish assaults on Prekmurje in the first half of the 17th century. The different data vvhich have been written down, also complete the picture of the economic and social development as well as the trade connection of Prekmurje with the places on the other side of the river Mura in Croatia, Styria and Burgenland.
