Estate of the Ljubljana Prebend of Order of German Knighthood (from the 13th till the End of the 18th Century)

Abstract

On the basis of available sources the author tries to give a picture of the prebend estate development from first being mentioned in the 13th century till its greatest extent in the 18th century. The primary estate extended in the immediate surroundings of Ljubljana and to the north of the river Sava. The Order became an important land-owner in the regions of Dolenjska and Bela krajina as well. The period from the 16th century till the beginning of the 18th was the time of loosing some minor parts of the estate. In 1739 the estate reached its greatest expanse.
