Abstract

Foundation of the first Slovene joint-stock banks at the turn of the century helped to the financial innovations spreading through the Slovene room. The bank assets progressing (1900—1912) was followed by stagnation until the end of the First World War. Thereafter, during the so called Slovene Foundation Period, numerous new joint-stock companies were founded. In the twenties Ljubljana developed into an important financial centre.
