Caesarean Section in the Maternity Hospital of Ljubljana 1900-1945

Abstract

The central part of the study represents a retrospective study of the protocols of all deliveries with Caesarean section (CS) in the maternity hospital of Ljubljana during 1900-1945. By studying the available literature dealing with CS, we tried to contrast the development of CS in the world with its development in our country as well. The primary sources were the delivery protocols bound into books. This material is kept in the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia. 49.208 medical records from the years 1900 to 1945 were individually reviewed for evidence of delivery by CS.
