Mikloš Kuzmič between State Machinery, Church Authorities, and Feudal Lords

Abstract

The letters of Mikloš Küzmič (1737-1.804) and his correspondence with others contain an important source of information about the history of Prekmurje in the second half of the 18th century. The article is centred on thirteen letters which reveal Küzmič's relationship toward the state apparatus, church authorities, and feudal lords. Despite his numerous administrative tasks Küzmič managed to prepare five Slovene books, one of which is entitled Kniga Molitvena v korist slovenskega naroda (1783). This most-often reprinted Slovene book was a 'breviary' for people living between the Mura and the Raba rivers.
