The author writes about Valvasor's application and the subsequent reply by the Vienna Court Office of Emperor Leopold I. with which author Valvasor was bestowed upon a special emperor's privilege to print Theatrum Mortis Humanae in 1681. The article also deals with the history of printing privileges which in the first centuries after the print had been invented were the predecessors of copyrights.
