Contribution to the Data on the Activity and Significance of the Alliance of Working People of Slovenia in 1939—1941

Abstract

In his contribution the author gives a more detailed genesis analysis of the programme elements of the Alliance of Working People of Slovenia (AWPS) during a longer period of Popular Front movement in Slovenia. He states that AWPS was in fact the programme carrier of certain authentlc tendencies in the national-political development of the Slovene society. He describes dilemmas concerning the way of AWPS organizing — either as an association of independent political formations or as a party. Giving some more details in the light of new documents he deals with the so-called »alliance crisis« between the communists and democratic political groups in Slovenia in the years 1939—1941. In his contribution the author tries to evaluate the role of the AWPS in the frame of Slovene national history.
