Abstract

The history of the Ljubljana officer corps in the given period, based mainly on the data from the Vienna War Archives, deals with the colorful life of officers in their line of duty as well as privately. As a professional and a social group the officers took part in and influenced the life of Ljubljana and its townspeople. They were a part of a numerous army and by no means an unimportant segment of town life. Their presence affected the town economy, they played a significant political role, were much sought-after as potential husbands, and greatly influenced the cultural and social life of Ljubljana.
