On the Trail of a Testament from the 17th Century

Abstract

The will of baroness Kacijanar from 1671, written in the mixture of her native Croatian and different Slovene dialects - the baroness spent most of her life in Carniola -, served as the basis for illustrating the status and the language practice of the 17th century new »gentry of the sword«, mostly South Slavic by origin, as well of the life of baroness Kacijanar herself.
