Abstract

The author gives a picture of the Early-Christian period in Macedonia with stress on the territory of the nowadays republic Macedonia. He pays special attention to the question of St. Erasmus of Ohrid and particularly to the correspondence of numerous popes with Macedonian space, preserved in collections »Collectio Thessalo-nicensis«, »Collectio Avellana« and in the collection of letters of the pope Gregory the great. In the end he explains the significance of the last mentionings of Macedonian bishops at church councils in the years 681 and 692, a century after the decay of the Early-Christian church in the major part of Macedonia due to Slavic incrusions.
