Dilemmas in the »New Course« by Lev Davidovič Trocky

Abstract

The author in his treatise deals with the sharp factional fight of the triumvirate (Zinovjev, Kamenev, Stalin) with Trocky in the years 1923/1924 — in the time of Lenin's illness and immediately after his death. He analyses in detail the platform of »fortysix« opponents and Trocky's treatises on bureaucracy in the Party and the Soviet system. Trocky in his short articles for Prawda extended and researched in detail his theory on the Soviet bureaucracy and inevitability of profound changes. Those treatises, containing his basic ideas, came out in the polemic brochure under the title »New Course«.
