Abstract

Historical Society for Inner Austria (founded in 1843), consisting of three provincial societies — Styrian, Carinthian and Carniolan — had at the end of 1844 already 846 members. In Graz was the head-quarters of the central directorate, the joint organ came out in 1848. Among the tasks of the society collecting of all kinds of printed works and sources referring to the three provinces was especially emphasized. In the years 1849 and 1850 the provincial societies became independent by the decisions of their general meetings, whereas the joint Historical Society for Inner Austria ceased to exist. The second part describes formation of the Historical Society for Carniola, especially the statute of this association and the role of its commissioners.
