Abstract

The authors deal with emigration from Venetian Slovenia from the aspect of its growing together with emigration processes from the parts of northeast Italy and especially from Friuli, stating also its specific characteristics at the same time. The comparative analyses contributes to the definition of Resia as an outstanding territory of seasonal emigration, and the Natisone/ Nediža valleys as one of the emigrationally least affected districts in Friuli till the time between the World Wars. The authors deal also with the process of transition from the seasonal and temporary form of emigration to the occurance of the lasting mass exodus, which in the decades after the Second World War changed exactly the Natisone/Nediža valleys, along with Resia, into one of the demographically the most affected districts in Friuli.
