Littoral Slovenes amidst Political Choices (1848–1918)

Abstract

The article, in a shorter form, was originally presented as a lecture at a meeting of historians from Slovenia and Austria in Ljubljana in 1999. It examines some basic problems of the political development of Slovenes living in the littoral part of Austria- Hungary. The differences between the political program of Slovenes and that of the neighboring Italians created frequent ethnic conflicts and disputes.
