Aquilaeian Patriarchate "Diplomatar"

Abstract

Since 1979 the Research Institute for Basic Historical Sciences at the University of Graz has been working at the Aquilaeian Patriarchate "Diplomatar". The present presentation of the project and the problems, connected with it, gets into detail of the following problem complexes: sources location and archives, publication design, accompanying studies and application of instruments for electronic data processing. The researches deal with the area of profane and ecclesiastic authority of patriarchs. As for the time period charters from the invasion of Lombards to Italy till 1250 (originally till 1365) have been included. Criteria are pragmatic, taking also records and authorizations into consideration.
