Archeology, Dolenjska, 10.-15. CenturyAbstract
The contribution deals with the so called "earth cabin", the oldest dwelling place in Otok. Its significance is in the very fact that such a cave exists in this part of Slovenia, being therefore one of the Slav dug in objects from the period 10th to 15th century in the wider East-European territory. It was dug in in the time before the 11th century and went through two or three stages of development. It was filled up for good in the 14th century. Probably it was a part of the Slav settlement, destroyed by a flood. Inhabitants were occupied with leather and ironwork activities, traces of which were discovered in the southern part of Otok.
