Abstract

At first the author explains the word metropolis (an ecclesiastic province) and its significance in the ecclesiastic-administrative regulation of a territory through the history. He continues with a serried survey of dismemberment of the Slovene territory from the ecclesiastic-administrative aspect in the past (metropolises: Aquileia, Salzburg, Ostrogon, Kalosca, Gorica/Gorizia, Udine) until the foundation of an independent Slovene ecclesiatic region with the seat in Ljubljana, on November 22nd, 1968.
