Monetary Activity in the Region of Slovenia in the Period from the 12th to the 14th Centuries

Abstract

  • The article presents a review of the activities of mints on Slovenian territory in the 12th and 13th centuries. It also discusses the current state of research in this field. Published coin hoards from the mentioned period are also surveyed. The author notes unsolved problems in relation to the study of the coins and the monetary circulation in the period from the 12th to 14th centuries. The possibilities offered by the study of individual and hoard finds of coins from the mentioned period as a primary historical source for research into economic and political history in the Slovenian region are also noted.
