Abstract

In the introduction development of computer application in researches of the Middle Ages, scientific findings of the main research centres, as well as results of a series of scientific meetings and technical miscellanies are presented. The central part deals with the main fields, where the computer application has progressed the most, such as texts processing, sources editing and picture material processing. At the end the author drew attention to the perspectives, as well as to the limits of computer researches abilities. A computer became a first-class instrument of a medievalist, however, in spite of its "artificial intelligence" being intensively incorporated, evaluation of historical development respectively historical synthesis comes within the purview of a man — researcher.
