Abstract

In the first part ZBIVA is presented - Slovene abbreviation for archeological data file for Eastern Alps and their margins in the early Middle Ages. The second part gives an example of its application — churches analysis in the Eastern Alps from the 8th till the first half of the 10th century. Herewith three characteristics have been considered: area, time and patrocinium. The result is that patrocinia don't tell us the origin time. The area is divided into more smaller ones, differing one from another, this being the result of different ethnic, religious, admini-strative-political circumstances. There exist remains of aboriginal old Christian tradition, which a new age of Christianization leans on. It's possible to set a hypothesis concerning the original expanse (smallness) of Carinthia and Carniola.
