Traces of Christianity in the Antiquity in the Province Raetia Secunda (with detailed dealing with Regensburg Inscription)

Abstract

In the introductory part of the treatise, the research history of the early Christian era in the territory of today's Bavaria is dealt with, further on the main questions referring to the history of early Christianity in this area (4th—6th century) are enumerated. The central attention is given to the detailed analysis of an early Christian inscription in Regensburg (inscription, mentioning Sarmannina). Critically presenting the up till now known archeological researches and unreliable inscription interpretations, the author gives his interpretation, thus correcting the up till now existing presentations and opening new interpretation possibilities.
