Slavs in Pesaro in the 15th-17th Century

Abstract

On the basis of archives (notarial books in Archivio di Stato di Pesaro, various series of municipal administration from the old Archivio comunale di Pesaro, kept by Biblioteca Oliveriana) the treatise deals with the Slav migration in the town. It was strongest in the transition period from the Middle Ages to modern times, when Slavs represented over 15% of town population. The author gives data on settlement ubiety in residential quarters, social and economic structure of immigrants, their religious institutions, assimilation process, as well as the end of migrations.
