The Czechs in the Bay of Trieste between 1848 and the First World War

Abstract

The article looks at the Czech community in Trieste in the period between 1848 and the First World War. Although a number of historians have already discussed the nationally heterogeneous structure of Trieste during the period of the Habsburg Monarchy the Czechs have always been relatively neglected. By examining archival documents, lite- rature, and newspapers from that period the author focused on the role of the Czech community in the town of Trieste.
