Abstract

The text examines the settlement of Slavs in the East Alps. On the basis of his interpretation of written and archaeological sources, as well as linguistic and toponomastic research, the author posits that Slavs settled the East Alps in the period between 595 and 599/600. Most of them were West Slavs who in the 6th century lived north of the Danube, in the territory of present-day Lower and Upper Austria, southern Moravia, and southwestern Slovakia
