Abstract

The author discusses the situation which arose for the town of Trieste as a port after the decay of Austria-Hungary and the effort of the republic of German Austria to ob am a free access to the Adriatic Sea and freedom of transit. Austria had achieved this, and following the agreement Renner - Nitti in 1920 the situation of the port of Trieste was of even further benefit for Austrian trade.
