Abstract

The article addresses the fact that, around the world, there is far too little recognition of the significance of the victory over Nazism and Fascism in World War II – a victory that is increasingly losing its status as a “just war.” By all means, such neglect, marginalisation, and underestimation of the nature, significance, and role of World War II, also stemming from its systematic devaluation and dismantling, constitute the core of the problems facing the modern world and the present moment. These problems are directly related to the ongoing challenges we face in the European Union and throughout the world in preserving democracy and its values, as well as the most fundamental universal civilisational values that define human society as humane. In this context, the authors present the project “Spomini še živijo” (Memories Live On) as a space for democratic and intergenerational dialogue and as a spontaneous form of reminiscence therapy.
