Drawing on archival sources, the contribution provides a deeper insight into the composition and operations of the Municipality of Dobrunje at the time of Italian occupation, during which it constituted a separate municipality but now falls under the City of Ljubljana. The municipality abided by new regulations and called on its inhabitants to do the same, according to the municipal president, with a view to avoiding confrontation with the occupier’s authorities and protecting its population. Although the minutes of municipal sessions contain no discussions on political orientations or activities pursued by individual inhabitants of the municipality, some parts faithfully reflected the overall climate of the era, while the municipal administrative bodies strove to maintain their professionalism, prioritizing social care in the war-torn locality. The contribution describes the operations of a rural municipality under Italian occupation.
